The Humble Indie Bundle 6

http://www.humblebundle.com

Say hello to the new Humble Indie Bundle!

6th "official" bundle of the series, this brand new bundle comes with 5 NEW Linux games never seen before in previous bundles (plus 1 game if you beat the average)! We were just enjoying the 5th bundle, and it's time for the 6th already! So, let's take a look these new games:

- Dustforce: in this frenetic, award-winning platformer by Hitbox Team, sweep your way through over fifty levels of wall rebounding, double jumping endurance runs where finesse matters as much as dust destruction.

- Rochard: in this critically acclaimed side-scrolling sci-fi platformer, John Rochard must master the use of gravity, weight, and matter to overcome various obstacles and puzzles in his quest against an intergalactic archaeological conspiracy.

- Shatter: a fresh take on brick-breakers, adding new physics-based concepts to alter the trajectory of every ball in play.

- Space Pirates And Zombies: explore the stars, outfit your own ships, and engage in intense combat in this top down space shooter by MinMax Games.

- Torchlight: in this addicting fantasy action RPG, take on the role of a lone hero who uses brawn and magic to hack and slash their way through intense crowds of baddies while collecting awesome gear, loot, and skills.

And... If you beat the average price (now $5,77), you get also:

- Vessel: in this liquid-manipulating puzzle platformer by Strange Loop Games, take on the role of Arkwright, the inventor of liquid-comprised automatons called Fluros, originally used throughout the world to make life easier for all.

You will also get all the soundtracks, you will help charity and you can pay what you want. Same good Humble Indie Bundle then! So, what are you waiting for? You have still 13 days! Don't be stupid and be quick!

Let's Play: Runaway - A Road Adventure

Ahoy captain! Ask me about Loom... Ahem, that was the wrong videogame. This is one of the best adventure games ever created since the golden era of the point-and-click adventure games (early 90's). Great graphics, deep plot, a beautiful woman, a smart guy, some crazy people and a group of dancing transexuals.. Ladies and gentlemen, this is "Runaway: A Road Adventure"!!!!

A hard choice...

Runaway - A Road Adventure on Crossover XI (11.2.0 engine):

The game installs and works perfectly!

Runaway - A Road Adventure on PlayOnLinux (Wine 1.5.12 version):

The game installs and works perfectly!

Well, this is a 2001 videogame, so it is supposed to work with both Crossover XI and PlayOnLinux/Wine. In fact, the game works good with both programs so the question is: are you a Crossover customer? If not, just use Wine and you'll be satisfied. As Crossover customer, i use Crossover to support it.

Talking about performances?

First of all my hardware:

agp_aperture_size: 256
cpu: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor
cpu_ghz: 0.80
distro: Ubuntu 12.04 precise
kernel: 3.2.0-31-generic
machine_bitness: 64
memory: 3953
soundcard: HDA ATI SB at 0xfbcf4000 irq 16
soundcard_driver: ALSA Version 1.0.24
videocard_direct: True
videocard_driver_version: 4.2.0 NVIDIA 304.43
videocard_manufacturer: NVIDIA Corporation
videocard_ram: 1024
videocard_type: GeForce GTX 550 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
x_version: X.Org X Server 1.11.3

Unfortunately, i had some troubles in showing FPS, so i couldn't make a comparison between Ubuntu and Windows. BUT, since this is an old game, and it does not require any powerful machine, it works really good, without any FPS drop or any stuttering.

Conclusion: use whatever you want, Crossover XI or PlayOnLinux/Wine.

Installation

This is the DVD installation from the DVD contained into "Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle".
The process takes about 3 minutes.
If you do the complete installation, you won't need any noDVD crack, so i suggest it.

Running

That's all. Feel free to send me an email or leave a comment if you got some problems or if you just wanna ask me a question. I will always answer you!
