Let's Play: PCSXR
Hello again, and welcome to a new let's play!
Have you ever dreamed of playing good old Playstation games on your favourite O.S.? This is exactly what you need!
Ladies and gentlemen, i give to you the best PSX emulator for Ubuntu... PCSXE!
A matter of choice!
There's nothing to choice. PCSXE works on the most used Linux distributions, and has its own client for Ubuntu 32-bit and 64-bit.
Talking about performances..
First of all, my hardware:
agp_aperture_size: 256
cpu: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor
cpu_ghz: 3.20
distro: Ubuntu 12.10 quantal
kernel: 3.5.0-26-generic
machine_bitness: 64
memory: 3953
soundcard: HDA ATI SB at 0xfbcf4000 irq 16
soundcard_driver: ALSA Version 1.0.25
videocard_direct: True
videocard_driver_version: 4.3.0 NVIDIA 310.14
videocard_manufacturer: NVIDIA Corporation
videocard_ram: 1024
videocard_type: GeForce GTX 550 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
x_version: X.Org X Server 1.13.0
I always said that some emulators performances do not depend by your hardware (in this particular case, PSX is a 1995 console, so all you need is a PC which can still turn on -_-). Anyway, as you're gonna see in my video, i'm always at 60 FPS, so performances are great.
Installation
The installation progress takes about 2 minutes.
You don't have to set anything, the emulator works perfectly without any particular setting (all you have to do is change some video options, if you want).
Running
Feel free to send me an email or leave a comment if you got some problems or if you just wanna ask me a question. I will always answer you!
